Welcome to my website!
My name is Olga Ross and I am a counselor at our wonderful Magnet school.
I was born in Volgograd (Stalingrad) Russia. I went to State University to study English and German and earned a degree as an English teacher.
I moved to USA in 2000. I used to live in Gettysburg, PA and enjoyed all the history of that beautiful town.
In 2015 I moved to Las Vegas with my daughter.
I worked as a substitute teacher for CCSD while working to become a licensed teacher in the state of Nevada.
I was hired as an ELL teacher at Western HS. I enjoyed working with high school students to help them master English language.
While at Western HS, I decided to pursue a career as a school counselor and started my journey. I went to college and earned my Master’s Degree in School Counseling.
At that time, I was working at Sunrise Mountain HS and the counseling department at that school gave me a chance to start my new career. I was so excited!
After being a HS counselor for a few years, I started to feel that I spent more time doing paperwork than I spent with students. I was longing to work more closely with children, so I applied to be an elementary school counselor and landed a job at Hoggard.
This is my 8th year at the school, and I feel that I truly found my home. I enjoy the student and the staff, our administration is incredibly supportive, our parents are wonderful.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve our students and community.

WELCOME LETTER 2024-2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am happy to be back to school and start another year at our amazing school.
As a school counselor, I provide preventative, comprehensive programs that support all Mabel Hoggard students. My primary responsibility is to promote the academic, career and social emotional development to the students. Throughout the school day, I typically meet with students individually, in small groups or I conduct classroom lessons.
Furthermore, I collaborate with stakeholders to implement responsive, preventative services that meet the needs of all students and ensure that they reach their highest potential. I organize special events such as Respect Week, Peace Week or Career Week. I also work with families and students who need special accommodations in a general education setting (504 plan).
One of the main goals of school counselors is to help make school communities a safe and respectful place to learn and grow. Seeing students succeed both academically and emotionally has always been a strong passion of mine and I love to guide children during this important time of their lives.
When I meet with students, I offer short-term solution –focused counseling. Please understand that I am not a licensed therapist and I am not allowed to conduct deep therapeutic sessions with children. If a student needs long-term intensive services, I can refer him/her to a therapist or agency in the community.
All CCSD schools are offering the Hazel Health program that is a virtual mental health support. Either a parent or a school staff member refers your child to therapy by contacting Hazel. Parents need to give permission for the child to see a Hazel therapist. Hazel matches your child with a therapist and schedules an appointment. Sessions are conducted virtually during the school day or after school hours at home. This program is at no cost to you. My.hazel.co/ccsd. 1-800-76-Hazel.
Also, CCSD schools offer the Care Solace program. Care Solace connects students, staff, and their families to care. At no cost to you, Care Solace will quickly and confidentially find available mental health and substance use providers matched to your needs. Caresolace.com/ccsd. 1-888-515-0595.
Additionally, I have various community resources available for you. For example, I have resources for tutoring, social service programs, behavioral programs, parenting classes, community support groups, grief counseling, college saving options and many other community organizations information. I also serve as the CCSD Title I Homeless program advocate, work with Foster children, provide students in need with the bag of food for the weekend, work with School Bell program (provide clothing) and other community agencies. I can also refer you to a school social worker if you would need additional support for your family.
If you ever have a need, please do not hesitate to contact me! Your personal information/ situation remains confidential with me, with few exceptions (at times administration may need to be informed of certain situations to ensure safety and optimal success of each student).
I look forward to the opportunity to assist you and your child/children. I want to assure you that I will do anything I can to offer supports to our students and our Hoggard families.
Thank you!
Olga Ross
